Executive function is a set of brain skills - a function much like an air traffic control center managing what planes use what runways, when they take off, and what routes they follow. In this metaphor, the planes and runways are all the parts of your day that you must navigate: remembering what to buy at the grocery store, following through on tasks, mapping out what to do when, controlling impulses, and filtering out distractions.

Brain injuries, chronic pain, depression, and common neurodevelopmental disorders like ADHD can impact executive function. In addition, it's common for your executive function to suffer after an accident or trauma. Be sure to mention this to your doctor and get free legal advice by calling us at 888 311-4050.
